Any move abroad by Prudential is "unlikely" to affect either PruProtect or PruHealth, COVER understands.
Reports have been circulating that Prudential is considering moving its headquarters out of the UK due to increased European regulatory requirements from Solvency II.
However, with the insurer holding only a minority 25% ownership stake in the protection and private medical insurance arms, it seems the pair will not be impacted by any potential move.
Prudential created PruHealth and PruProtect as part of a joint venture with South Africa based Discovery, but Discovery then increased its stake in the partnership to 75% when buying Standard Life Healthcare and integrating it with PruHealth.
Both firms confirmed to COVER that given this arrangement it was "pretty unlikely" that any changes made by the UK parent company would impact the businesses.
Phil Jeynes, head of account development at PruProtect, said that he could not comment on Prudential's plans, but noted: "We have our own offices and so I don't think there would be any knock on effect for us".
A PruHealth spokesperson added: "It's far too early to say but I think it's unlikely, given that Prudential only owns 25% of PruHealth, so at the moment it's pretty unlikely.
"It's such early days for Prudential themselves I don't think it's had any implications as far as we're concerned and certainly we haven't heard anything."
Along with separate offices, both firms have their own management structures that are independent from Prudential.
