ALC Health strikes UAE deal

International medical insurance provider ALC Health has formed a partnership with the Arab Orient Insurance Company to underwrite its worldwide health plan for companies and residents in the United Arab Emirates.

The strategic partnership enables ALC to sell its products across the region. Arab Orient Insurance Company, based in Dubai is part of the reputed Al-Futtaim Group. ALC Health's Prima range of products are now available to the expatriate community.

Andrew Apps, ALC Health director, says the deal with "one of the best general insurers in the region" allows ALC to enter a fast growing expatriate market. "This strategic alliance offers companies in the UAE comprehensive international health insurance plans for employees and their dependants both at home and abroad", he adds.

The population of the UAE currently stands at 8.9 million according to the countries National Bureau of Statistics. This comprises both Emiratis and expatriates with the number of expats rapidly increasing and last estimated at over 6 million. ALC said that standard of healthcare is extremely high in the UAE, as the government has invested in the healthcare system however healthcare is not free to non-UAE citizens.
