Exeter Friendly heralds the product's simplicity
Exeter Friendly Society has seen enquiries exceeding expectations after the mid-month launch of a private medical insurance policy, Health Cover for Me which it claims is "... simple, transparent and designed to be used".
The product is designed to complement the NHS and to cover treatments that respond quickly, plus cancer.
However, the product does not cover routine GP, optician or dental consultations, emergency treatment, chronic or pre-existing conditions, and treatment that has not been authorised.
The provider said the plan included comprehensive cover for acute conditions, unlimited cancer cover, no limits on private treatment, minimal exclusions, no penalties for claiming, co-payment options, age attained and competitive pricing, and discounts of 10% each for body mass indexes of less than 25 and non-smokers - those not having smoked in the last 12 months.
Richard Wyatt-Haines, sales and marketing director for the provider, said: "We've seen enquiries that have exceeded our expectations in the first dew days. We launched a national advertising campaign on 15 November so it is still early days but the enquiries we have received have exceeded our expectation which is great."
The cover's co-payment option means consumers can reduce their premiums by agreeing to meet proportions of the cost of their treatment, stated by the provider to be 10%, 25% or 50%. These amounts will be capped so consumers are aware of how much they would have to pay.
