Friends Provident has launched an online seminar focusing on customer life stages and the changes to them.
The provider says it is designed to help advisers understand what changing lifestyles means for them and how it has affected how they give protection advice.
The seminar looks at the changes that have happened to life styles over the last couple of decades, such as less people getting married and buying their first properties and more people starting families later in life.
It also looks at seven life stage categories and provides case studies for each.
An online interactive tool which features pop up tips to help advisers target these seven different customer life stages has also been lunched.
It includes case studies, objection handling and product solutions, providing the adviser with ready made marketing material specifically tailored to each life stage.
Ed Stuart-Brown, head of protection sales at Friends Provident believes there are many other events that occur now which could instigate the need for financial protection.
"It is surprising how much our lifestyles have changed recently," he said.
"The credit crunch and recession has meant that people are putting off key life events until later on in life or for good. It has demonstrated that we can't rely upon protection being sold off the back of a house purchase or starting a family because these opportunities may be few and far between these days," he added.
The seminar is available now and advisers can gain CPD points for viewing it at www.friendsprovident.co.uk/protectionsupport
