To mark the launch of Medicals Direct International (MDI) the company has signed as a main sponsor of a major international conference for insurance underwriters.
Mike Benton, CEO of Medicals Direct, commented: "We had already moved in on the European marketplace, with our Spanish and German joint ventures. It now makes absolute sense for these overseas investments to form the nucleus of Medicals Direct International. We also have an operation in Ireland and we are developing a joint venture in South Africa."
Medicals Direct has signed to sponsor the European Life and Health Underwriters' Association (ELHUA) conference held in Brussels during September.
"The decision to sponsor the ELHUA conference coincided nicely with the launch of Medicals Direct International," said Benton.
ELHUA is an international forum for exchanges of views and the development of contacts, particularly with insurers in countries where they may be less familiar with the concept of outsourced underwriting.
Speakers' chosen topics for discussion at the 2010 ELHUA conference include specific health risks, innovation in medical testing and the actuary/underwriter relationship.
