Exeter Friendly adds excesses to PMI product

Exeter Family Friendly has added a range of excess options on its Health Cover for Me private medical insurance (PMI) plan.

The series of excesses will include £100, £250, £500 and £1,000 options, which the provider believes is in line with most providers in the market.

Quotes for Health Cover for Me are available from industry portals Insurance Resource and Prognosis, together with the Exeter Family Friendly website.

Mike O'Brien, head of intermediary sales at Exeter Family Friendly, is hoping the addition will ease some advisers' concerns about the product.

"We know there are many features of the plan that intermediaries like, but, what they have told us is they don't like the co-payment approach of premium control," he said.

"Their customers don't understand it and as a result they don't feel comfortable recommending it.

"We have listened and made a change which will allow intermediaries to compare us like for like with other insurers," he added.
