The majority of readers are happy with the details outlined in the Insurance Conduct of Business (ICOB) sourcebook, according to COVER's latest web poll.

Some 80% of respondents to the online survey said they were pleased with the outcome of the sourcebook, which was published just before the end of last year. Only 20% disagreed. The sourcebook revealed that the regulator had decided to leave life insurance in the same category as critical illness and income protection instead of putting it in the 'less complex' category alongside general insurance products such as travel insurance.

Following Direct Life & Pension Services' announcement that it has launched a protection training academy for intermediaries, this month's survey asks whether this will help make more consumers aware of the need for protection.
