Fortis Life has launched a new internet-only life insurance policy for customers who want 'no frills' products.
The proposition, in partnership with click.co.uk, an online provider of life insurance, will be sold without advice.
Click Life Cover, will pay out only on death, have a sum assured of up to £1m, the option of waiver of premium at no extra cost, along with terminal illness cover and guaranteed insurability options available at extra cost.
Martin Werth, managing director of Fortis Life, said: "We recognise that some consumers are confident in buying life cover without advice, many of whom have used the internet for research."
Ray Flannery, executive director of Click, said: "As an industry we constantly debate the protection gap but have lacked the innovation to address it. The UK population is currently under-insured, yet is offered complex products it does not understand and is expected to jump through a number of hoops to get the cover it needs."
