F&TRC has released the findings of its inaugural survey of IFA software systems.
The financial services technology consultant believes the results will provide advisers with an opportunity to directly compare the propositions offered by the participating suppliers.
It surveyed nine software vendors on 49 processes in front office, back office, client facing and corporate business areas of their proposition.
Each provider was measured against the same objective scoring model for each specific area on the basis that they either had the functionality in question - or they did not.
There were no subjective or opinion based elements to the scoring process.
True Potential is claiming top spot in the rankings having received 21 top placings out of the 49 categories, more than any other provider.
However, Ian McKenna, managing director of F&TRC, was keen to point out that different systems excel in different areas.
"In producing this research, we are aiming to help advisers gain a better understanding of which systems are best suited to meet their individual needs," he said.
"There is no such thing as a single system that meets the needs of all advisers. Our ratings can help advisers select those software suppliers whose systems are most closely aligned with their individual needs," he added.
Nevertheless, Daniel Harrison, senior partner at True Potential, was thrilled with the results.
The nine companies who participated in the survey were: Adviser Office, Capita, Durrell, Focus, Intelliflo, JCS Software, Plum Software, SSP Swift and True Potential.
The results will be updated quarterly to capture developments in the market and can be found online.
