Medicals Direct has appointed Philip Gregory as chairman as it looks to continue its global expansion.
Gregory was previously CEO of HSBC Insurance Brokers and held and board positions at other insurance and financial services groups, including Marsh, Tullett's and Municipal Mutual Insurance.
The medical services solutions provider said the new role followed a series of expansions by the group and that his substantial experience of mergers and aquisitions transactions and restructuring should also prove invaluable.
Mike Benton, CEO of Medicals Direct, welcomed Gregory's appointment.
"I have no doubt that Philip will bring invaluable practical expertise to the Board and that his impressive range of experience and wide circle of influence will help to open up opportunities at a time of significant expansion," he said.
"We increased in size significantly during 2010, following a series of carefully-considered takeovers and we've also expanded into Europe. The calibre of leadership and advice that Philip brings will be immensely constructive at this stage of our development."
Gregory, who stepped down as CEO at HSBC Insurance Brokers following its sale to Marsh, added: "I see clear opportunities for Medicals Direct to capitalise on its recent dynamic growth and acquisitions, and further benefit from its leading market position in medical services.
"The potential for the growth of its healthcare business is very exciting. I look forward to bringing my experience to bear on a period of domestic and international expansion for the Group."
