The views are divided on whether mergers are good for the protection industry or not, according to COVER's latest online survey.
Some 52.6% of respondents to the web poll said they believed companies that decide to unite is good for the sector, while 47.4% disagreed.
This month's survey looks at the Financial Services Authority's proposal to divide insurance products into two categories; one complex and one less so. Critical illness and income protection will come under the complex category, but what category should life insurance come under?
