Allianz has extended the range of pre-existing health conditions it will cover on its Worldwide Care international private medical insurance (IPMI) plan.
Individuals and small underwritten groups can benefit from the change and it applies to both advised and direct business.
The provider has previously focused on a full medical underwriting service, but has recently begun to cover pre-existing conditions, with the possible inclusion of a surcharge.
Dr. Ulrike Sucher, medical director at Allianz Worldwide Care, said: "We regularly add further conditions to the list of those which we can underwrite, offering an even more comprehensive level of cover to individuals and employees of small underwritten groups.
"Traditionally, the international health insurance industry has not tended to provide cover for the majority of pre-existing conditions and until recently the policies available would have either excluded cover for pre-existing conditions or only provided cover after a waiting period, if cover was offered at all."
