Cirencester friendly has introduced an at home nurse screening program for applicants where further medical evidence is required.
The service will be operated my Medicals Direct with its nurses able to carry out a range of tests including blood tests and mini screening examinations.
The insurer said the arrangement means an applicant can schedule a visit at a time to suit them rather than have to fit around an often busy local surgery.
It has also appointed Medicals Direct to carry out its GP admin, which it expects will speed up applications and help to get policies on the books quicker.
Paul Hudson, chief executive of Cirencester friendly, echoed these aims to improve customer service.
"Waiting for GP's to provide us with further information and clients test results are two of the biggest causes of hold ups in our application process," he said.
"By offering nurse screenings and working with Medicals Direct to obtain GP reports and other GP admin we hope to reduce our application turnaround times."
Richard Freeman, business development director of Medicals Direct Group, added that he was delighted with the agreement and expected the services to offer a positive impact on the new business process.
