Bupa customers may soon be treated in the provider's new flagship London establishment after it bought the Cromwell Hospital for £90m.
In addition to purchasing the 128-bed hospital, Bupa said it intends to invest £30m in the facility over the next two years to develop what it calls 'a centre of excellence for private patients'.
The insurer added it had been waiting for the right time to develop the London hospital.
The facility currently has 600 consultants covering 70 different specialities alongside services including a private GP clinic, health screening and a walk-in family medicine and diagnostic centre.
