Aviva announces senior management shake-up

Aviva has announced changes to its senior management following the acquisition of Friends Life by Aviva.

As previously revealed, Andy Briggs, the current CEO of Friends Life, will become the CEO of the expanded Aviva UK & Ireland Life business.

David Barral, the current CEO of Aviva UK & Ireland Life, will be leaving the group at the end of May.

Rob Barker, currently the strategic partnerships director at Aviva, will become MD strategic partners and protection for UK&I life and general insurance, including key accounts and IFAs.

Louise Colley, currently protection director at Aviva will become protection director for the combined individual protection business.

Mark Wilson, group chief executive officer at Aviva, said: "I would like to thank David for his distinguished service to the Group. David has had a successful career with Aviva spanning 16 years.

"Over the last three years, David has been a member of the group executive and has been a great partner during Aviva's turnaround. We all wish him well as he pursues the next chapter."

The merger was approved by both insurers' shareholders in two votes held in London. However, sanction from the Guernsey Court remains to be gained - it is expected on 10 April 2015 with the merger complete by 13 April 2015.

John Lister currently group chief risk officer will become CFO of Aviva UK & Ireland Life and group business development officer, supporting Tom Stoddard, group CFO, from 1 July 2015.

Kevin Moss, chief operating officer will become the COO of the enlarged UK Life business, while Rob Barnett, COO for Friends Life will stay on for six months before leaving.

Andy Curran, currently UK CEO for Friends Life, will be responsible for combined corporate and business propositions including group risk and employee benefit consultant relations.

Briggs said: "The UK life senior management team we have announced today has the experience and ambition to make the most of the considerable opportunities in the vibrant UK life and pensions sector."
