London & Country reports uplift in IP sales

London & Country has reported a 3% increase in income protection (IP) sales - partly attributed to greater awareness and adviser conversations following the Seven Families campaign.

Michael Aldridge, sales director for the adviser firm (pictured) said although it wasn't possible to say whether this increase had been purely related to the campaign, the firm believed it has made a difference.

He said: "Our advisers are fully aware of the campaign and are pro-actively using it in conversations with clients to highlight the benefits and positive impact on life and lifestyle protection in general can have and specifically IP can have."

Aldridge added: "When the campaign officially kicked off in the last quarter of 2014, we pulled up the stats from the IP team here to find out the penetration in that quarter compared to the first three months of the year. We found a 3% increase in the penetration of IP.

"It's difficult to know whether that trend is all down to Seven Families but we can definitely attribute some of our success to the fact that our advisers are regularly using the campaign in conversation with clients. It brings to life the subject and its definitely had an impact."

Aldridge said he expected growth in mortgage and protection advice to continue for London & Country throughout this year.

As part of an expansion strategy, the firm opened a London office at the beginning of 2015. It also has a head office in Bath and an office in Newcastle.

Six advisers are currently based in the London office advising on mortgages and protection.

Aldridge said: "Strategically it was the right thing to do. We will do a bit more in the fact to face market and in the high-net worth market."
