The Fit for Work (FfW) service has officially launched today.

The advice section of the service is the first to go live and can be found here.

The service for those living and working in Scotland can be found here.

It offers advice to employers, employees and GPs for dealing with long-term absences from work and includes an online library and telephone, email and online support.

In September WSB revealed that the FfW (previously known as the Health and Work Service) would be further delayed until 15 December.

The Fit for Work service will also provide occupational health related assessments and support to employees who have been, or are expected to be, absent from work for at least four weeks.

However, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) was not able to give a firm date of when this would be done, only to confirm it would be rolled-out thoughout 2015.

The occupational health support aims to provide a return to work plan to the employee to help support their return to the workplace.

GPs will be the primary referrer to the service, although employers will also be able to refer staff after they have been off for more than four weeks.
