Here are some worrying but perhaps not shocking statistics from Legal & General's State of the Nation report: 75% of small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) had not heard of a relevant life plan or executive income protection. Meanwhile, 70% said they would likely cease trading within 24-months of the loss of a key person and 82% of remaining shareholders would use funds from sources other than a policy to fund a share purchase on death of a shareholder.
