Christine Husbands, managing director of RedArc, writes about the impact of the Covid pandemic on carers and the support available to them. According to Carers UK, there are around 13.6 million people acting as carers throughout the pandemic and about five million of them are juggling work with caring responsibilities, which equates to one in every seven employees. Even back in 2018, statistics published by the charity found that 72% suffered mental ill health as a result of caring and 80% said they felt lonely or socially isolated (Carers UK, State of Caring 2018 survey).
