A recent trawl through the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) complaints database revealed a couple of matters worthy of consideration. The first is an evergreen and an area that I have touched on previously - activity-based claims definitions. These have largely been removed from income protection plans thanks to disruptors such as Chris Hargreaves, who operated the ‘Angry Policyholder' and ‘Scot Provident Says No' websites and used social media to highlight the perils of accepting these definitions.
