Research by comparison site, Compare the Market, has found that while 70% of UK adults were aware of their monthly outgoings, nearly one in 10 did not have an overview of how much they spend.

The comparison site surveyed over 6,800 people in the UK to assess their financial awareness. It found that adults aged over 55 were the most aware of their spending, with 89% keeping track of their outgoings. Those aged 16-24 were the least aware of their spending habits, with 58% of this demographic stating they were aware of their monthly spending and 15% unaware of this. While 47% of adults did not ignore their finances, 53% avoided keeping on top of this.
