The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released the results of its Financial Lives cost of living (Jan 2024) recontact survey.
The survey, which had 3,450 respondents, details how people are cutting back on essentials due to the cost-of-living-crisis. The highlights being that 28% of adults reported not coping financially or finding it difficult to cope, as well as 11% of respondents having no disposable income. These numbers represent a slight improvement on a similar survey conducted in January 2023, with an 8% difference in those not coping financially (at 36% in January 2023) and a 3% difference in those having no disposable income (at 15% in January 2023).
