AIG Life to be acquired by Aviva in £460M deal

UK protection market consolidation continues

Aviva has announced it is to acquire AIG’s UK protection business, AIG Life, from Corebridge Financial for a consideration of £460 million.

The deal, expected to close in the first half of 2024, will add a further 1.3m individual and 1.4m group protection customers to Aviva's client book. In a statement (released 25 September), Aviva said the acquisition builds upon its momentum in UK protection market, complementing its existing "focus on innovative solutions and strong partnership distribution."
