Cancer patient receives income protection to cover monthly salary with additional benefits on top

Following a colonoscopy, self-employed bathroom fitting manager Neil was diagnosed with stage 2 bowel cancer and subsequently went into surgery, however developed severe sepsis which required treatment in intensive care. As a British Friendly member, his income protection policy covered his monthly salary which allowed him to pay his mortgage while he underwent surgery and began to recover.
