Steve Webb has warned about 'rationing' of care home places and under-funding of social care.

Steve Webb, director of policy, Royal London and the former pensions minster, penned an open letter to The Times in response to a study published in The Lancet and featured in COVER magazine, which found that the UK needs 72,000 additional care home places by 2020 to meet ageing population growth.   It said: "The projected increase in demand for residential care places has profound implications not just for the care sector but for the NHS.   "In recent years access to care homes has been rationed with increasing severity, meaning that more and more people who would previously have bee...
