Jobseekers could face losing benefits for three years under revised and tougher rules introduced by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) today.
The DWP has stated that people receiving benefits have a responsibility to actively seek work in exchange for receiving Jobseekers Allowance. There will be three levels of sanctions depending on how the reported offence is categorised. The low level will be for failures to undertake specific action as required by a Jobcentre Plus adviser.
