In the UK, protection continues to struggle to achieve greater uptake across the population. The benefits of these products are clear, so why are consumers continuing to shun the sector, asks Jon Yarker.

On paper, the protection industry is doing well. Sales of new policies continue to grow in both individual and group markets under quite exceptional circumstances, while claims statistics from insurers boast record pay outs. However, uptake of these products continues to lag behind other forms of insurance.
