Health cash plans have become the second most popular employee benefit according to the 2017 Willis Towers Watson Employee Benefits and Wellbeing Index. Fiona Murphy looks at why this is the case compared to its sister PMI market.
Willis Towers Watson's annual index recently found that 12% of respondents valued health cash plans the most - two-thirds (66%) of whom earn less than the national average salary. Cash plans beat health insurance and other types of employee benefits such as life cover (which came in third and fourth place in the index respectively), but still, as you might expect, trailed behind pension schemes, which 32% of respondents valued.
